Plants for hedges

Φυτά για φράκτες

A classic question that our customers always ask us is which plants can be used as hedges. Whether for aesthetic reasons or because they want to hide an imperfection or to protect privacy or for some other reason, the demand for plants that can be used as hedges is always popular.

We will briefly present you with some classic choices with hedge plants.

1 Boxwood. Boxwood is the classic shrub that you see in most gardens in the form of a hedge in various shapes. It provides a hedge with cohesive foliage. It is a relatively easy-to-adapt plant but avoid it in areas close to the sea.

2. Viburnum lucidum. A bright, as its name suggests, shrub. It makes a beautiful hedge of medium or high height. A resistant plant, but sometimes its young vegetation can be affected by aphids. This is a good choice. In the same classification there is the Tinos viburnum, also a beautiful and resistant shrub.

3. Photinia. This is a hedge with special foliage as in early spring its leaves take on a crimson color, giving a different touch to the garden, while later they gradually change to green. This is also a resistant and adaptable plant.

4. Ligustrum. An extremely adaptable shrub that gives a hedge of relatively cohesive foliage. It needs a lot of water during the hot summer months. An extremely good choice for gardens near busy roads as it is resistant to exhaust pollution.

Other equally strong choices are Angelica, Thuja, Leyland, Pyracantha, Carissa, Bougainvillea and others.

In addition to shrubs, hedges can also be made of climbing plants such as jasmine, yarrow, Passiflora caerulea and others.
